How the Qualcomm Dragonwing IQ-X Series Is Powering the Future of Industrial PCs

The Qualcomm Dragonwing IQ-X Series is set to reshape industrial PCs with rugged design, strong compute performance, and more efficient edge intelligence. Qualcomm introduced its first industrial-grade processors for PLCs, panel PCs, edge controllers, and box PCs. The new platform supports harsh environments, offers broad peripheral options, and delivers powerful multimedia features. Leading OEMs, including Advantech, congatec, NEXCOM, Portwell, Tria, and SECO, plan to adopt the IQ-X Series soon.
Smarter Factories Through Advanced Industrial Compute
Qualcomm designed the Dragonwing IQ-X Series to meet the rising needs of modern industry. The series brings strong single and multithread performance, long product life, advanced security, reliable connectivity, and excellent power efficiency. At its core is the Qualcomm Oryon CPU, built on 4 nm process technology. It offers up to 12 high-performance cores and as much as 45 TOPS of AI capability.
The processors also support a wide industrial temperature range from minus 40°C to 105°C, making them ideal for rugged sites. Because of their durability and flexibility, the IQ-X Series can serve many industrial devices and demanding factory environments.
Flexible Integration Across Industrial Applications
The Dragonwing IQ-X Series is compatible with industry-standard COM module form factors, which helps OEMs use the processors in existing systems. Its evaluation kit offers a simple way to test industrial workloads. This compatibility ensures smoother integration with standard hardware peripherals and bridge chips used in factories.
The platform supports leading software partners and industrial applications on Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC. It works with Qt, CODESYS, EtherCAT, and other tools that improve control, flexibility, and system performance.
Industrial teams can now also use the on-chip NPU for AI workloads through the Qualcomm AI Software Stack. The IQ-X Series supports common AI runtimes such as ONNX and PyTorch, which makes AI model deployment easier. This enables predictive maintenance, condition monitoring, and defect detection at the edge.
Helping OEMs Accelerate Market Deployment
Qualcomm built the IQ-X Series for rapid customization. Its architecture supports simpler system design and can reduce the bill of materials because it removes the need for separate AI or multimedia modules. This helps OEMs and ODMs launch industrial systems faster and deliver scalable platforms for robotics, automation, and intelligent edge products.
Advantech, congatec, NEXCOM, Portwell, SECO, and Tria will be the first companies to offer commercial devices powered by the IQ-X Series. These products are expected within the coming months, marking an important step in advancing industrial computing.
More information is available on the Qualcomm product page. As the industrial landscape evolves, the Dragonwing IQ-X Series aims to support the next wave of edge intelligence and smart manufacturing.
